Promise Fellow Week Career Day: Meet Moira Cormier!

Moira Cormier, MPF Alum, College Access Coordinator at Crossroads

My service as a Massachusetts Promise Fellow impacted my career choices by solidifying my passion for youth work and opened my eyes to how important the service I was doing is, and will continue to be, especially in effective education, caring adults and safe spaces. This has steered me down the career path of non-profit youth work and I am finding that now more than ever, young people need mentors in their life that tell them they can do anything.

Through my service I have better learned the importance of creating a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment for all people and I strive to do that in my every day work. I also have learned the importance of giving young people the opportunity to be agents of change in their own lives. Learning to build strong relationships and being open and available to young people gain's trust and a feeling of support throughout life's successes and challenges.

I currently work full time as the College Access Coordinator for Crossroads, my 2015-2016 MPF Host Site, and have the opportunity to create and facilitate college bound and career success programming for young people aged 13-18 in the Boston and Brockton communities.
