Serve as an MPF 2021-2022 Community Grant Reviewer!

Each year, the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship facilitates a competitive RFP process to select community partners to be our AmeriCorps Fellow host sites. Proposals are submitted by both current and new sites, including non-profit organizations, city agencies, and schools. Proposals are reviewed internally and by a panel of community reviewers. Here are the details: What: All reviewers will receive approximately 6-8 applications and instructions via email to review. Reviewers will individually read the proposals and make preliminary recommendations. Applications are 12 pages each.  Reviewers will be placed in small groups to discuss their proposals and make final recommendations to staff. Dinner will be provided. When: Thursday, February 18th from 6:00pm-8:30pm Where: On Zoom! Why: Serving as an MPF community grant reviewer is an excellent opportunity to network with individuals from the AmeriCorps Alums community and the higher education, non-profit, and business fields. It also provides the chance to learn about youth programs across the Commonwealth and support in MPF in creating a strong host site portfolio for 2021-2022 RSVP's Due January 26th  SIGN UP HERE!

MPF Statement on COVID-19 and the 2020-2021 Year

The uncertainty of our future continues to be a constant presence for all of us. As a youth serving AmeriCorps program, our process it to follow the state guidance. Based on this guidance, we plan to adapt to the needs and adjustments of our schools and host sites, while supporting and promoting our Fellow's individual safety needs and service experience. At present, we are planning for the following options this fall and will reassess as we make our way through the year and monitor COVID-19's spread in Massachusetts. MPF Training & OrientationWithin the next two weeks (by July 22nd) MPF will decide the format for upcoming trainings and Orientation. We are considering the following optionsFully virtual meetingsSmall meeting groupsLarge outdoor community builders Our goal is to have trainings in person, only if we can ensure a safe environment for all. Host Site OnboardingEach host site has a unique plan for how it will onboard new Fellows and whether it will be virtual, a hybrid model, or in person.Fellow applicants should ask the host organization their plan for fall during their interview

MPF Stands Up, Black Lives Matter

To the MPF Community, Today marks one week of mourning the loss of George Floyd, one of a string of tragedies that amplifies our collective failings as a nation on behalf of black and brown communities. We must face the history of systemic oppression that has disenfranchised these communities and outwardly denounce acts of violence that perpetuate this continued injustice. Black lives matter. As we grieve and follow the lead of the black lives matter movement, the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship is committed to recognizing, understanding and dismantling structural inequities that continue to plague our institution, education system, healthcare system or any other facet of our shared human experience. We stand in solidarity with our black Fellows, alumni, and staff that are grieving and affected by the systems of white supremacy that allow these injustices to repeat without due process. To white folks in our community, we must put our inherent privilege to work. With our complacency, our silence, we are complicit in perpetuating these cycles of violence. As called upon by a friend and colleague, I encourage white folks to not only tell, but to show how they intend to support our black communities. Below are a few resources to show support, engage in education work, and peacefully demonstrate. If you would like to connect more, I welcome hearing from you.
